Exinda 2760 Overview:
The Exinda 2760 enables quick deployment of traffic management for branch offices. With Quality of Service (QoS), L7 classification, compression and when deployed with the 6700 or 4700 in head office, it provides a fully managed WAN and enhanced application performance for all the branch offices.
The Network Challenge:
Everyday more and more data is being pushed across our networks. Increased growth and reliance of web based applications, VoIP, streaming video and Internet usage have congested our networks and made them unreliable. Network users are spending more and more time waiting at screen (TWAS) as applications compete for finite resources over stressed, over-run networks. This proliferation of traffic has degregated our networks’ speed and performce and resulted in productivity losses.
The challenge faced by IT professionals today, is how to gain visibility into the network, identify what applications and users are causing the congestion and put policies in place to ensure applications and data run smoothly over your network, despite the ever-increasing demand?
The Solution:
Exinda provide users with the best network experience possible by maximizing the speed and efficiency of applications over the network.
Exinda’s unified performance management (UPM) solution brings together a suite of advanced, best-ofbreed, visibility, traffic-shaping and WAN optimization technologies into a single, easy to-use appliance designed to improve network productivity.
Exinda is the only unified performance management solution on the market. Controlled through a seemlessly integrated, unified management console, Exinda reduces costs, increases revenue and allows you to get the most out of your network.
What You Can’t See Can Hurt You
In many organizations, when end users complain about slow applications on the WAN, IT staff have no idea why. This is because they have only limited visibility into the types of Internet traffic on the network. Without visibility and control, IT is essentially flying blind when it comes to addressing poor network performance, slow applications, bandwidth congestion or the need to prioritize critical applications like voice over IP (VoIP).
WAN Optimization Made Easy
The Exinda WAN optimization appliance allows organizations to instantly gain deep visibility into all network activity and identify why applications are performing poorly on the WAN. Providing network visibility, control and optimization in a single, affordable, “plug-and-play” appliance, Exinda allows organizations to rapidly identify bottlenecks, control recreational traffic and intelligently accelerate applications.

How It Works:
Turn Chaos Into Clarity with Real-time Visibility and Reporting: Bandwidth Monitoring
Without effective network monitoring and visibility, WAN activity can appear chaotic and uncontrollable. Simply by installing the Exinda WAN optimization appliance for bandwidth monitoring, organizations gain visibility into network activity and usage. After running Exinda in monitoring mode for a short period of time, organizations can generate meaningful historical reports that show network usage trends and peaks and valleys in bandwidth utilization. With Exinda, organizations can control bandwidth and identify the top bandwidth consuming applications on the network including recreational traffic and rapidly pinpoint mis-configurations, congestion and bottlenecks.

Figure 1 – Exinda provides graphical reports that list the top inbound and outbound applications on the network. Drill-down capabilities provide fine-grained visibility into network usage. Reports can be automatically emailed in PDF format on a daily basis to key IT personnel or business executives.

Figure 2 – Exinda features industry-leading Microsoft® Active Directory Integration that allows organizations to “follow the user” by tracking network and application usage by Active Directory User Name. Network administrators can apply optimization policies to active Directory users or groups for precise control.
Take Charge of the Network and Applications with Precise Control: Control Bandwidth
Based on a thorough understanding of what is happening on the WAN, organizations are now ready to take control of network acceleration with Exinda. Exinda's WAN solutions provide network managers and administrators with the ability to set policies to manage and control WAN and Internet traffic. With Exinda, organizations can “fair share” bandwidth among various users, groups and applications while restricting unwanted recreational traffic. To keep low-priority traffic from interfering with WAN performance and application response times, Exinda allows you to detect evasive applications, limit the bandwidth allotted to P2P traffic or eliminate some types of recreational traffic altogether.

Figure 3 – Basic and Advanced User Interface Options allow Exinda users to choose the level of detail presented in the User Interface and easily toggle between Basic and Advanced interfaces. The Exinda Basic Web User Interface is designed for simplified operations and management of devices, whereas the Advanced interface provides more advanced policy-based traffic control.
Keep the WAN Running in an Optimal State: WAN Solutions
Exinda combines sophisticated traffic optimization with intelligent network acceleration. Exinda's WAN solutions provide detailed application classification and prioritization, granular policy-based traffic control and selective TCP and network acceleration. With Exinda, organizations can dramatically improve application response times, increase traffic throughput and reduce the effects of latency on the network. Exinda enables organizations to continually optimize the network and achieve near LAN-like application performance across the WAN.

Take Charge of Your Network and Applications
With more Web-based applications coming online every day, the amount of traffic crossing the network is growing exponentially. Network managers face the complex task of monitoring and managing network resources and bandwidth, while meeting user expectations for consistently fast access to applications. At the same time, they may also be mandated to reduce network operating costs. To meet these challenges, organizations must have a Unified Performance Management (UPM) solution in place that addresses the three key requirements of network management: visibility, control and optimization.
Components of a Unified Performance Management Solution
A Unified Performance Management solution brings visibility, control and optimization together in a comprehensive, tightly integrated and centrally managed system.

Technology:
- Application Layer 7 Classification and Monitoring - Signature-based deep packet inspection (DPI) identifies and controls recreational Web applications including peer-to-peer programs such as BitTorrent, Kazaa, Facebook, and MySpace while providing detailed reports on how bandwidth is being used. Classification on the Exinda’s 6720 high speed (ASIC-based) appliance allows wirespeed monitoring at speeds of up to 1Gbps. The appliances track usage and network utilization by application, hosts or conversations and provide extensive reporting via automated PDF and CSV exports and SQL connector.
- Application Specific Analysis Modules (ASAM) - Exinda supports detailed classification and analysis of specific applications such as HTTP, VoIP and Citrix. Appliances also monitor voice calls and conversations in real-time.
- Application Response Measurement (ARM) - Applications monitor application response times across network and server infrastructure as well as measure and manage user experience across applications.
- Adaptive Response (AR) - Appliances set alerts and notifications and run custom scripts based on triggers.
- Policy-based QoS - Appliances provide granular traffic control and application quality of service.
